Again, my pregnancy with Monroe had no complications. I wasn’t as relaxed or off my feet as the first time because I had Mexx and he had just turned one when I was 3 months pregnant. I had booked in for a planned c section on the afternoon list of the 4th May. In the early hours of that morning I went into labour. Monroe’s initial due date was the 5th May.
Having gone into labour Monroe started travelling down the birth canal and I had all the same issues as last time only this time it was more of an emergency. By the time I got into theatre they were panicking because they couldn’t get through my scar tissue from my previous section and classed it as a really complicated birth. Unaware I just remember when Monroe was being born him being taken off to be monitored. His breathing was slightly off and because of the delay in getting him out they wanted to have a full check. I knew there was an initial problem because they kept letting him cry and then stop and then cry. The nurses were saying he’s fine they are just checking his breathing. I think whatever their initial worry was went away as he was allowed to come back to me in the recovery room.
Again, Monroe was formula fed. I originally started on SMA which I had for Mexx but he was so so sickly and had reflux I changed to Aptimel.
I then in the meantime got referred to an osteopath. We started regular treatment with him which he mentioned lots about the birth the fact he was tongue-tied but then also mentioned that his head had prepared itself to go down the birth canal but never “popped back out” because he was then delivered by a section. To look at you wouldn’t notice this.
I also took him to a private doctor to monitor his cough and wheezy breathing at times but also to check for a dairy allergy that a couple of people had mentioned as he was still super sicky . The doctor said there wasn’t an allergy and it should settle down. With all this in mind & the fact he was still sickly, I started Monroe on “baby food a lot quicker” he was having and still only had 4 bottles a day sometimes 3 – Monroe as a baby is quite solid, he’s a bigger baby and seems to be a lot more advanced than most his age. He’s strong enough to pull himself up, very fast at crawling and is very interactive. I feel like in recent weeks with his sleeping being horrendous and his teeth driving him crazy it might be the reason for him being off his food at times.
Monroe now goes to nursery too. On the days he’s at nursery he will maybe nap on the way at 8.30 then again have breakfast,
a nap around 10/11 then lunch at 12
followed by a nap in between 1-3.3.0.
Dinner at 4 and then a bottle before bed at 6.30 then a feed depending in between 10-1am
Sometimes I try to leave him to wake for a bottle, other times I feed him in hope he will sleep and be settled for longer.
Monroe at nursery will have fresh food made from the cooks. At home he tends to have bigger pouches.
Monroe has never slept through the night and again wakes anytime between 5-6.30.
When he was a baby due to reflux I used to find him propped up on my arm in bed he would sleep and settle better it then got too much and I got him into his [cot/bed] next to me.
He has self-settled in the past but the last couple of weeks when I’ve tried he’s only got more and more upset, again I’m unsure if it’s because of his teeth. He’s such a happy cuddly baby that sometimes I don’t know if he’s upset because he’s not cuddling or laying with me. With Monroe even now it’s always one thing after another; I feel like he’s never really got into the swing of things without having a cough or waking up through the night. Which he again will still do.
