Sonny was born at 40+1 weeks (he is almost 7 months)
After 4 days in labour I spiked a temperature when they gave me an epidural and they thought I had an infection. I ended up having forceps delivery in theatre. Sonny was pulled out by his nose and lip (by mistake!!!) so suffered bad facial bruising. He wasn’t breathing very well when he came out so they had to take him away for an hour to check he was ok. I managed to get 30 sec of skin to skin before he was whisked away. They said he also had an infection but I later found out it was a precaution as they thought *I* had had an infection (which I hadn’t.) We stayed in hospital for 5 days until he was finished his antibiotics. During this time he had suspected meningitis and had a lumber puncture but that was negative. It was horrible in hospital!
I have breast fed Sonny since the beginning, with Amanda and my mums help! He latched really well from the start but lost some weight then didn’t put it back on again so was treated for tongue tie, he latched straight back on after the snip and started to gain weight after that.
I took him for a number of baby osteopathy treatments (as I heard it was great for babies born with forceps) he seemed to respond well to the treatment, very relaxed.
Since then he has been a happy little baby.
When last weighted he was in the 9th percentile for his weight.
He has had all his jabs up to date (albeit a bit late due to travels)
We have travelled a lot with him from 8 weeks old. I think this has impacted on his sleep and my ‘on demand’ feeding.
I (mum) am the only one that feeds him and puts him to bed as he falls asleep on me and then I move him into his cot.
We started doing food tasting from about 19 weeks, then started on solids just before 6 months. He likes his food and has been wanting to eat for ages, but doesn’t eat as much as I thought he would.
6.15/7.00 – Sonny Wakes up / we breast feed
8.00/8.30 – Breakfast – porridge with formula milk and a choice of banana, berries, peanut butter / coconut, some finger fruit usually banana, maybe bit of toast – varies
8.30-9.15 – play time
9.30-11.30 – morning nap – this varies between 1-2.5 hours. he will only fall asleep in the pushchair, sometimes he goes down right away, sometimes with a bit of rocking, sometimes a walk is needed.
11.30 – wakes up – change nappy, bit of play
12.00 – breast feed – both boobs approx 20-30 mins
12.30 – play time
1.00 – lunch – homemade mush veggies, bit of finger food, mushed fruit, bit of water to wash it down
1.30-4.30 – the afternoon varies, sometimes he has a nap about 3pm, sometimes not, sometimes the solids lunch is later, we almost always get out of the house!
5.00 – usually give a breast feed snack – one boob
6.30 – bath time – we do this maybe twice a week
6.45 – lullaby bedtime routine
7.00 – breast feed both boobs to lullabies – he falls asleep on me, but I switch him and then he feeds and falls asleep again.
10.00-12.00 – wakes up – this time varies. I try to comfort him and burp him, then I usually end up feeding him then I put him back in his cot asleep. He then wakes / feeds every 1.5-3 hours
bad night – 10pm / 12.30am / 3am / 6am
good night – 12am / 3am / 7am
Breastfeeding (during the night, sometimes for the afternoon nap
We sometimes co-sleep and he suckles all night!!
White noise toy at night – I don’t think he actually needs this to fall asleep but I keep it on just in case!
As above he wakes every 1.5-3 hours. he is in his own cot in his own room and will cry out. I usually leave him for a few minutes to see which way it’ll go then I go in to try and settle him – a bit of shh shh, a few strokes but it generally gets worse when he sees me and I touch him so I take him out, he usually burps then if he continues to cry (which is most times) I feed him, he falls asleep on me. This can take anything from 15mins – 1 hour each time.
I don’t think so
