We are a family of four, with 2 daughters aged 7.5 and 21 months old (Zoe and Eloise).
We were travelling a lot when Eloise was born, and we moved from Canada to London when she was 6 months old. We really enjoyed co-sleeping with Eloise, and so we never tried to have her sleep in her own cot. By one year old or so we would put her to bed in her own cot, but inevitably she would finish the night in our bed as we were too tired/lazy to do anything else, but it also meant we had a good night’s sleep, and it was easy. After Eloise turned a year old or so, she started getting bigger and moving around more in bed, so it became really difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Plus she got so used to not falling asleep on her own, which meant that we had to spend at least an hour every night putting her to bed. Her nap wasn’t easy.
I had reached out to another sleep consultant before, but it wasn’t very helpful and I didn’t want to just get someone to do the sleep training for us at home, and I didn’t think it was fair on Eloise. I put an add on a Facebook mum’s page and got an overwhelmingly number of recommendations for Amanda. I immediately emailed her and we started a conversation. We went for the Platinum Package and Amanda was amazing the whole way through. She kept reassuring us that we would go through it and we weren’t alone, putting us in touch with other parents that had been in the same situation.
Phase 1 went very well for us but Phase 2 was much more difficult, and I really thought we wouldn’t get through it and we started to lose faith as it took a bit more time than expected (but then we were comparing with Phase 1, which went quicker.) I was ready to give up but Amanda was adamant that it was time to move to Phase 3, and move by the door with the Shhh Shhh App. I then did it, and the first night was very hard because Eloise cried a lot but I know she felt safe, so I went through with it. That’s when I realised Amanda really knew what she was doing and that I just had to trust her direction. The second night was better and the third one even better, and we moved to Phase 4.
Amanda is not only very experienced but she also genuinely cares about your baby and your well-being so it makes the experience much more doable. You feel safe and in trustworthy hands.
