William - 17 Months

Reason for Contact

Amanda was recommended to us by friends who had implemented her programme with their two daughters and had seen amazing results.

When we started working with Amanda, our little boy was 16 months old. He was breastfed to go to sleep, and co-sleeping at night to allow me to get some rest in between night feeds. He used to wake up between 3 and 6 times a night. I would put him in his cot after he fell asleep on the breast after bath time, and then take him into bed with me when he would wake up between 10pm and 11pm for a top-up and to use mummy as a dummy. Needless to say, no-one was getting a good night’s sleep. We knew we had to do something and what the end goal was, but we didn’t know how to get there. Crying it out was not an option for us and we were looking for a more gentle and holistic approach. I also didn’t want to fully stop breastfeeding just because we had to break the feed/sleep association.

During our initial consultation, Amanda reassured us that she had worked with many families who had been in exactly the same situation, and rather than judging us she helped us understand why things were how they were.

Solution

When Amanda shared her recommended programme for our boy, she had not only laid out her recommended schedule, but had also put together a mid-week one to fit around our child’s nursery schedule.

We started Stage 1 of the programme a few days before Christmas to make the most of our 2 week break and focus on the task at hand. The first couple of nights were tough; breaking the milk association took a lot of cuddles and reassurance from dad whilst I stayed away. But by Day 3 our little one was ready to start settling in his cot. By the end of the first week he was sleeping through the night. And a month on, he still is! Amanda’s encouragement really helped us to remain consistent, and within 2 weeks we were out of the room.

End Result

Our little boy now falls asleep by himself after story time, with us outside the door, and is consistently asleep by 7pm. He is still breastfed twice a day and has gargantuan meals 3 times a day. We used to take him out in the buggy or the car to get him to nap, he now naps for up to 2 hours after lunch in his cot. It’s an incredible change to our lives, having proper evenings and especially getting some proper sleep!

Amanda gave us not only the tools but also the confidence to change things. She is an amazing person to work with and her warm personality and genuine interest in the families she works with made it a real pleasure to have her in our lives. She went above and beyond
our expectations in terms of support during the 2 weeks of the Programme (and even after), and in terms of results. We couldn’t recommend her more.

Amanda – do not hesitate to buddy me up with families who are facing a similar journey if you think we can support.

All the best,
Delphine x
