When I found out I was pregnant with twins, all I could think was ‘how on earth will I breastfeed 2 babies, it’s surely impossible’ but after being referred by friends and formally introduced to the incredible Amanda Marks by Marcelle at the MumandMe app we had our first consultation where we discussed the ins and outs of the 4th trimester and why and what I should expect if I want to build a good milk supply in the early weeks especially for twins, she explained about latching, tongue tie assessing, jaundice, the importance of enough wet and dirty nappies, reflux and why exclusively breast fed babies don’t suffer with it and most importantly antibodies and immunity from my milk designed for both their new born tummies so she proved to me with her passion, knowledge and endless care that it absolutely was going to be possible.
I then went to see her at her clinic in Alderley Edge as she meets mums in late pregnancy and there we went through her programme, hand expressing colostrum and why it’s so important should I require it in the early days and after to hand express before and after feeding to help me avoid engorgement and from there we were set to go.
She was there for us on hand for the run up to their births as we chose platinum package and therefore onboard with us and our family for 3 weeks.
She is incredibly friendly and warm and she puts her heart and soul into helping you.
I gave birth a week early, so no time to get started with colostrum collecting as it was scheduled for that night at 37 weeks but when I told Amanda she rushed home from her evening out to be on call with me to talk through step by step of how to start this breastfeeding journey. That night was so important as the early hours and then monitoring twins journeys day 1-21
She was always on hand to reply to calls, text, voice notes on our feeding team and she always had the answer to whatever stage I was at.
There were growth spurts coming up so we covered those too, what to expect and once she concluded what would be happening and what to expect at 6-8 weeks and 4 month regression!
Her support has been endless and her passion to do what is best and right for the baby and you is always her priority!
Her main value for us was to help me exclusively breastfeed and that I did solely for nearly 10 months.. they are healthy and then more recently went through her food and sleep programme & they now eat brilliantly, sleep well and any bottle that was introduced has gone aged a year.
I can not recommend Amanda enough, she is a wealth of knowledge and support.
